Currently, scammers are impersonating the Australian Taxation Office and myGov to phish for personal information, such as bank card details.

The research shows that 69% of Australian adults could identify all scams when tested. With scammers using SMS phishing techniques, it is crucial for individuals to scrutinize messages, especially during tax season, and verify communication from official sources. One key red flag is to check website links for discrepancies from official addresses.

Individuals suspecting they have been targeted by a scam should contact their bank immediately for assistance.
