In a recent incident in Melbourne’s southwest, a 63-year-old shopkeeper bravely thwarted an attempted robbery at a general store. The shopkeeper confronted an unknown man armed with a tire iron who entered the store on Duncans Rd in Werribee South on April 15, demanding cash. Refusing to comply, the shopkeeper is captured on CCTV footage grabbing at the man and chasing him out of the store.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident, and the suspect fled the scene without taking any items from the store. Police have released the CCTV footage in hopes of identifying the man involved. They are seeking assistance from anyone who may have information, dashcam or CCTV footage, or who witnessed the attempted robbery. Individuals can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or provide information online through the Crime Stoppers website.

This courageous act by the shopkeeper serves as a reminder of the importance of remaining vigilant and taking action against criminal activities to ensure the safety and security of the community.
